Do you use any medium as you mix your paints other than mineral spirits when painting outdoors?

Kevin- I met you a couple years ago at the Utrecht Paint out in Central Park. Kenn Backhaus did a portrait of me that day. Something I’ve always wanted to know is your use of light, medium, dark, and chromatic black paint. Do you use these as a base under painting for the big shapes or do you mix these with the primary colors to “grey” out the color? I noticed in the

Passport & Palette Switzerland demo that you started with big gray shapes and then mixed color on top?

What did your pond series teach you about painting the same subject so many times? Does your experience from that series still affect your current paintings?

Recently you have done several figurative works and I am wondering if you think that landscape paintings are reaching a saturation point and are collectors moving toward figurative work?

How do you make your decisions about brushstrokes – which size, which direction, how much variety within a painting?
